Herd of Cave Dogs
Watercolor, Charcoal, Coffee on hand-made Indian watercolor paper 9.5" x 12.5" 2005
This Cave Dachshund painting was inspired by the gorgeous cave art of pre-history, particularly that seen in Lascaux, France. Imagine, 17,000 to 35,000 years ago, the noble Dachshund living with the primitive people of world as they lived and hunted and played...this is perhaps how some artist would have represented their companion on the walls of their home. In this depiction six black and tan Dachshunds run in a herd, possibly running after squirrels or something more substantial, such as a Wooly Mammoth (as we know, Dachshunds are never intimidated by larger animals).
