Rainbow Bridge
Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge

Watercolor
7" x 10"
2007

Nearly anyone who has ever lost a beloved furry companion knows the story of the Rainbow Bridge, that place where animals go to wait in health and happiness for the time when they can again meet their human companions and continue on together into the afterlife. In this illustration the rainbow bridge arches over fluffy clouds to the bank of a grassy meadow bright with the new leaves of early Spring. There a dog pauses from enjoying a toy bone (for at the Bridge they have many good things to eat and play with), and gazes out at the bridge, perhaps thinking of that day when their own special person will cross that bridge and hold them in their arms again.
