Bringing Down the Woolly Mammoth
Bringing Down the Woolly Mammoth

Watercolor, Charcoal, Coffee
2.5" x 3.5"
2005

This Cave Dachshund painting was inspired by the gorgeous cave art of pre-history, particularly that seen in Lascaux, France. Imagine, 17,000 to 35,000 years ago, the noble Dachshund living with the primitive people of world as they lived and hunted and played...this is perhaps how some artist would have represented their companion on the walls of their home.
This is the scene of an epic battle between a diminuitive Cave Dachshund and a Woolly Mammoth. The wily weiner dog appears to be winning. If you own a modern day Dachshund it is probably no surprise to you that its ancestors were just as fearless in the face of much larger animals as they are today. later.
